BRISTOL, R.I. – The Town of Bristol/ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ Cooperative Committee is accepting applications for grant requests from local groups and individuals leading projects to enhance civic and community life in Bristol, with particular attention to populations who may be typically underserved.

Since its launch in 2007, the Fund for Civic Activities has distributed $380,500 to fund 236 projects that have impacted thousands of Bristol residents. These community initiatives have focused on the arts, social services, education, the environment and more.

The committee accepts applications twice a year, and ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ will award about $12,500 in this funding cycle.

Throughout the years, the fund has awarded grants to:

  • Community String Project for musical instruments and scholarships.
  • Bristol Blooms for the creation and maintenance of flowers in the downtown area.
  • Bristol Police Department for community outreach and safety initiatives.
  • East Bay Food Pantry for weekend, summer and mobile grocery and nutrition programs.
  • Town of Bristol Emergency Dialer program, providing dialers and batteries to seniors.
  • Bristol Health Equity Zone for Recovery Rally celebration and diabetes prevention programs.
  • Linden Place for the National Black Doll Museum of History and Culture exhibit.

Town of Bristol/ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ Cooperative Committee is comprised of six representative leaders from the Town of Bristol and six representatives from ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ. The committee reviews proposals and makes recommendations for final approval to the Bristol Town Administrator and the President of ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ.
