Carving a Path
"It has been my dream to attend a 4-year university so I can make a difference in my community. Growing up in a first-generation immigrant family, financial aid played a pivotal role in my college decision process. Thanks to ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ’s financial support and academic opportunities, I am able to make my dream come true.
My first year at ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ I entered as Legal Studies major. Then I got the opportunity to meet RI governor, Daniel McKee at a ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ event. When I told him my major, Legal Studies, Mckee recommended I combine it with Political Science. I am glad I was able to have this interaction because it catapulted my educational path. ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ encourages their students to combine passions & interests into their education, which is exactly what I was able to do. I now double major in Legal Studies & Political Science and minor in Philosophy. My passion for my studies is supported by the passion that my professors emanate when teaching.
I am from Cranston, RI, so I have been commuting for these last two years. Upon being admitted to ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ as a commuter student, I found it so easy to get involved on campus. I quickly felt like ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ was my second home. I am president of our Multicultural Student Union (MSU), an Admissions Ambassador, and an Orientation Leader. Recently I was hired as a Residential Assistant for this Spring 2022 semester, I am excited to get to live on campus for the remainder of my ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ experience.
What I love about ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ is the constant water views. Did you know the town of Bristol only has local restaurants? No chains here! My favorite place to go off campus is Colt State Park. If you really want a place to relax, feel safe, and explore, that is the spot.
Once I graduate, I want to go to graduate school and study law. I have first-hand experience of what the immigration process is like in the United States, and I want to improve the process and bring change to the system. I know that my education and experience at ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ will give me confidence as I enter my next venture."
