Rupayan Gupta is Associate Dean and Professor of Economics at ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ. He completed his Ph.D. in Economics from the Iowa State University in 2004, and with previous education from St. Xavier’s College, Calcutta (undergraduate degree) and Delhi School of Economics (Master’s degree). His areas of expertise are Public Economics, Political Economy, and the Economics of Conflict. His research includes designing international institutions for global security, analysis of conflict in disputed regions, corruption in the media, and the study of global remittance patterns. This research has been published in prestigious journals like the Canadian Journal of Economics, Public Choice, Southern Economic Journal, Defense and Peace Economics, among others. He has been named Hassenfeld Fellow and Davis Fellow at the ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ. Rupayan has taught courses in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Game Theory, Public Finance, Political Economy, and Economics of Conflict. At ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ, Rupayan has been part of the Mario J. Gabelli School of Business and Senate Curriculum Committees and the Senate Diversity Committee. He has been interested in and involved with DEI issues at ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ for many years. A long-standing member of the university’s GECPC, Rupayan has been interested in general education issues. Most recently, he has served as the Faculty Director of General Education at ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ, facilitating the introduction of the new general education program until his appointment as Interim Associate Dean of the Mario J. School of Business.
